Marquiz: Countdown Timer

Context

Marquiz is a quiz and form builder for marketing and education. A self-initiated concept, never shipped — I noticed the feature request in a real user feedback thread and designed the solution independently.

Business Problem

Users themselves requested the feature in a feedback thread — a timer would help both marketing scenarios and a newer segment, educational quizzes.

User Problem

Two segments, two different needs: marketers want urgency around limited offers; education creators want a timer that tracks how long a quiz takes.

Process

  1. Found the request in a real feedback thread: marquiz.nolt.io/403

  2. Broke down how Jotform, Typeform, and Outgrow handle countdowns.

  3. Wrote separate hypotheses for marketing and education.

  4. Designed one flexible mechanic covering both — different settings states, a timer config modal, and quiz states with an active timer.

Achievements

Since the concept was never shipped, I don't have post-launch data. I'd measure success through Timer Adoption Rate, Quiz Completion Rate, adoption across marketing vs. educational use cases, and Time to Configure.

Outcome

Designed a flexible countdown mechanic for two Marquiz segments, grounded in real feedback and competitive research. Never validated with users or the team — the next step before shipping would be a usability test or A/B experiment.
